Yeosu Gwangyang Port Authority Holds Regular Meeting with Related Organizations to Build Smart Gwangyang Port

Strengthening Cooperation Systems to Prepare for Predictable Risk Factors in Future Ports

[Asia Economy Honam Reporting Headquarters, Reporter Heo Seon-sik] Yeosu Gwangyang Port Authority (President Park Seong-hyun, YGPA) held a regular C.I.Q related agencies meeting on the 5th at the World Marine Center for the Gwangyang Port Automated Terminal Construction Project.

The meeting, held to strengthen information processing facilities and cybersecurity, was attended directly by heads of YGPA, the National Intelligence Service, Yeosu Regional Maritime Affairs and Fisheries Office, Gwangyang Customs, Yeosu Coast Guard, Yeosu Immigration Office, and National Yeosu Quarantine Station.

At the meeting, information on the progress of the Smart Gwangyang Port project was shared, and the agenda titled "Joint Response Efforts to Operational Risk Factors Due to the Construction of the Gwangyang Port Automated Terminal and Key Points by Each Agency" was discussed mutually.

President Park Seong-hyun said, "It is true that the transition to full automation of our country's ports is somewhat delayed compared to major ports worldwide," adding, "If we prepare steadily through a council where all C.I.Q agencies participate with the spirit of 'Yubi Muhwan (preparedness prevents trouble),' I am confident that we will not only build Gwangyang Port into the world's best smart port but also contribute to making it a K-Smart Port."

Meanwhile, the Gwangyang Port Automated Terminal Construction Project was included in the new government's national agenda in May.

In particular, to build an automated terminal requiring data-based operations, wireless communication connectivity, and enhanced cybersecurity, YGPA formed a working consultative body with C.I.Q related agencies in June last year and has been holding regular quarterly meetings to discuss current issues.
