Muan-gun Decides to Extend Measures for 'COVID-19 Daily Recovery and Regional Economic Revitalization'
[Muan=Asia Economy Honam Reporting Headquarters, Reporter Oh Hwan-joo] Muan-gun, Jeollanam-do, is extending the 10% special discount on the Muan Love Gift Certificate until the end of this year to help small business owners and residents recover their daily lives from the difficulties caused by COVID-19 and to revitalize the local economy.
The extension period is until December 31, and the purchase limit per individual remains at 1 million KRW per month, as in the first half of the year.
The county usually applies a discount rate within 6%, but recently decided to extend the 10% special discount to overcome the economic crisis caused by COVID-19 and rising prices and to inject vitality into the local economy.
This year, Muan-gun plans to issue about 100 billion KRW worth of gift certificates. In the first half of the year, a total of 62.1 billion KRW was issued (including 43 billion KRW supported by national funds) and 49 billion KRW was sold, actively contributing to the revitalization of the local economy through the issuance and distribution of gift certificates.
As of June this year, the number of affiliated stores accepting the Muan Love Gift Certificate totals 3,621 locations. To enhance convenience for gift certificate users and revitalize neighborhood commercial districts, new store registrations have been actively promoted in areas such as Namak New Town, adding about 200 more stores compared to last year.
Paper-type gift certificates can be purchased at 43 sales agencies within the county, and mobile-type (including card-type) gift certificates can be purchased or recharged through the Local Love Gift Certificate mobile app or at agencies of NongHyup, Saemaeul Geumgo, and Credit Unions.
County Governor Kim San said, “The extension of this special discount period is expected to greatly help increase sales for small business owners and alleviate the burden on the low-income economy caused by rising prices. We will continue to actively implement various support policies that residents can feel.”
