MarketPlus Survey Results of 50,000 Shopping Malls
[Asia Economy Reporter Lim Chunhan] It has been revealed that online shopping mall operators are linking three or more different marketplaces to expand their sales.
According to a survey of 50,000 online shopping malls experiencing sales growth using the global e-commerce platform Cafe24's integrated marketplace management service 'MarketPlus,' many use major open markets and comprehensive shopping malls such as Smart Store, 11st, Gmarket, and Coupang as a base, while also selecting multiple vertical markets (services specialized in specific product categories) that consider the characteristics of their products and target customers.
In particular, vertical markets are increasing in popularity among shopping malls because they provide a community environment that allows rich content and interactive communication beyond simple product sales, making it easier to increase mall visitors and secure brand loyal customers. For example, fashion brands often use multiple platforms such as Zigzag, Musinsa, and Ably simultaneously to boost product purchases.
Lee Jae-seok, CEO of Cafe24, said, "It is common for shopping malls to use various marketplaces as marketing channels to increase sales," adding, "We will continue to expand the linked marketplaces and enhance services of MarketPlus so that shopping mall operators can more easily and quickly scale their businesses on the marketplaces they want."
