[Asia Economy Reporter Hyungsoo Park] Immunobiome, a microbiome-based new drug research and development company, announced on the 4th that it participated in the '2022 International Probiotics Conference (IPC)'.
IPC is the world's largest academic conference in the field of gut health and gut microbiota, including probiotics and prebiotics. More than 500 probiotic expert professors and scientists from over 80 countries around the world participate to share the latest industry trends and related knowledge. This year's event, marking its 15th edition, was held from the 27th to the 30th of last month in Bratislava, the capital of Slovakia.
Shinhyuk Lim, CEO of Immunobiome and professor of life sciences at POSTECH, who serves as the IPC president, led lectures on immunology, keynote speeches, and panel discussions.
In the keynote speech titled "Probiotics on the Borderline Between Food and Pharmaceuticals," he presented on ▲ the differences between LBP (live biotherapeutic products) and probiotics ▲ the processes required for LBP development ▲ the current status of LBP development enhancing anti-inflammatory/anti-cancer effects using Immunobiome's Abatiom platform technology. In the panel discussion, he engaged with distinguished scientists to discuss issues related to LBP and the directions to move forward.
An Immunobiome official stated, "Abatiom, which applies AI technology in the experimental process, enables not only the analysis of correlations between genomes and candidate substances but also the selection of microbiome-based microbial therapeutic candidates for target diseases, allowing optimal clinical trial design."
Immunobiome possesses various pipelines including treatments for autoimmune diseases such as inflammatory bowel disease and lupus, as well as anticancer therapies, based on its self-developed Abatiom system. Abatiom, an avatar model system that simulates human immunity and microbiome, is a core technology that can derive new drug candidates while analyzing their applicability to humans.
