[Asia Economy Reporter Seongpil Cho] Kwon Seong-dong, the floor leader of the People Power Party, criticized the Ministry of Gender Equality and Family's youth gender equality culture promotion project on the 4th, saying, "It once again showed why the Ministry of Gender Equality and Family should be abolished."

On the same day, Kwon wrote on Facebook about the "Gender Equality Culture Promotion Team Butterknife Crew" supported by the Ministry of Gender Equality and Family, "They claim to alleviate gender conflicts but are actually amplifying them, providing tax support biased toward a specific ideology, and repeating the old practices that were criticized in the past." He added, "Cultural improvement cannot be achieved through projects. Butterknife is already in its fourth term, but what effect has it had on improving gender conflicts?" and "We need to examine whether there were any similarities with some civic groups that receive funding under false pretenses."

Kwon further stated, "The support targets are skewed toward feminism. Excessive feminism was one of the causes of gender conflicts," and "In other words, it is a contradiction to claim to alleviate gender conflicts while actually amplifying them. It is this very contradiction that has led to public opinion calling for the abolition of the Ministry of Gender Equality and Family." He also said, "In a liberal democratic country, individuals have the freedom to choose a particular ideology, but the state should not blatantly support that ideology," and criticized, "This project method, which was criticized in the past, is being repeated out of inertia, completely unrelated to the new government's policy to abolish the Ministry of Gender Equality and Family."

Kwon said, "I have received concerns from many of you regarding this matter. Accordingly, I contacted the Minister of Gender Equality and Family to convey the problems with the project." He added, "I have already proposed a bill to abolish the Ministry of Gender Equality and Family and will proceed as planned," and "Separately, I will closely examine which projects of the Ministry of Gender Equality and Family are wasteful of tax money and take appropriate measures."
