Yeonggwang Small Cinema to Extend Weekday Screening Hours Starting from the 5th

[Yeonggwang=Asia Economy Honam Reporting Headquarters Reporter Lee Jeonseong] Jeollanam-do Yeonggwang-gun (Governor Kang Jongman) announced on the 4th that Yeonggwang Small Theater will expand its weekday screening times from 3 sessions (3 times in the afternoon) to 4 sessions (1 time in the morning, 3 times in the afternoon) starting from the 5th.

Yeonggwang Small Theater was completed last year on the site of Yeonggwang Arts Center with a total of 109 seats, 2 screening rooms, a concession stand, and a resting area. It is currently a beloved leisure culture hub that residents consistently enjoy and was selected as the best policy that brightened Yeonggwang-gun in 2021.

In the first half of this year, 12,145 people watched movies, and since its opening, the total number of viewers has reached 27,821, meaning that 1 in 2 residents of the county has watched a movie.

After the government's social distancing adjustment plan (lifted in April), the release of blockbuster movies caused the number of viewers to surge more than 2.5 times compared to the first quarter, establishing the theater as a hot place in Yeonggwang-gun favored by all generations from children to seniors.

Along with this expanded operation tailored to the cultural needs of residents, the service of the latest movie information will be strengthened through promotional displays installed in 10 towns and townships, making it more accessible so that all residents can feel culturally included.

A county official said, “Through this weekday morning screening, we hope that especially mothers tired from childcare and residents who usually could not use the theater will take a romantic and touching cinema vacation at the cool and comfortable Yeonggwang Small Theater during the hot summer days.”

The admission fee is 6,000 KRW (8,000 KRW for 3D), and it operates year-round except for regular closing days (every Monday). It screens the latest released movies regardless of genre, including animations for children.
