[Jeongeup=Asia Economy Honam Reporting Headquarters Reporter Kim Jaegil] Chilbomul Theme Park Water Playground, the representative water play facility of Jeongeup City, Jeonbuk, will open on the 9th.
According to the city on the 4th, the water playground, which had been closed for two years to prevent the spread of COVID-19, has completed repairs on the swimming pool facilities and overall infrastructure before this year's opening. The park has also prepared visual attractions by planting crape myrtle and marigold flowers inside the theme park to welcome visitors.
Chilbomul Theme Park is located on a two-story site in Museong-ri, Chilbo-myeon, and includes a water-themed exhibition hall, water playground, ground fountains, artificial waterfalls, and an ecological park.
Famous for its beautiful surrounding scenery and clean water sourced from the pristine Okjeongho Lake, the park attracts about 30,000 tourists annually not only from Jeongeup but also from Jeonju, Gwangju, and other areas.
The water playground features a children's pool and a toddler pool covering an area of 2,030 square meters.
It is also equipped with various play facilities such as body slides, water tunnels, water sprays, and convenience facilities.
For safety, the city plans to station water safety personnel and first aid responders at all times and operate a 10-minute rest period after 50 minutes of water play.
The water playground will have an early opening on the weekend of the 9th and 10th, followed by full operation from the 16th until July 21st.
Operating hours are from 10 a.m. to 5:30 p.m., and it will be closed every Monday.
Admission fees are 4,000 KRW for children, 5,000 KRW for teenagers, and 6,000 KRW for adults. Jeongeup citizens receive a 2,000 KRW discount per person, and groups of 20 or more get a 20% discount.
A city official said, “As summer approaches, we will do our best to ensure safety management and hygiene so that Chilbomul Theme Park Water Playground can be a comfortable and relaxing space for children and family visitors.”
