The 3rd International Cool Industry Expo Opens at EXCO on the 6th

Architecture, Landscaping, and Public Facilities: Products and Technologies Addressing 'Heatwaves' and 'Climate Change' All in One Place

The 3rd International Cool Industry Expo Opens at EXCO on the 6th

Daegu City and Gyeongsangbuk-do Province will proactively respond to heatwaves and fine dust by hosting the "2022 Korea International Cooling Industry Expo (Korea International Cooling Industry Expo 2022, hereinafter referred to as the Cooling Industry Expo)" for three days from July 6 to 8 at Daegu EXCO.

This exhibition, held at the first-floor exhibition hall and outdoor exhibition area of EXCO, will showcase various products, technologies, and solutions to help people stay healthy during the hot summer, along with measures to address fine dust issues and climate change.

In particular, this year’s expo will feature products and solutions aimed at preventing heatstroke among workers during the summer, as heatstroke has become subject to the Serious Accidents Punishment Act starting this year.

In the public goods sector, companies related to public cooling systems such as cooling fog, clean roads, and smart shade shelters, as well as systems responding to abnormal climate changes, will participate. In the industrial goods sector, building materials such as heat-blocking blocks, heat-reflective paint, and permeable pavement materials, along with industrial cooling and air conditioning systems, parasols, and vertical gardens related to landscaping will be exhibited.

The consumer goods sector will display a variety of cooling industry-related products and technologies, including home appliances such as air conditioners, refrigerators, and air purifiers, as well as personal cooling items like summer bedding, ice vests, parasols, and cooling arm sleeves.

In this regard, the expo will not only showcase cooling industry-related products and technologies but also offer seminars, experiential events, and business exchange consultations.

To promote the cooling industry and support profit generation for participating companies, the expo will expand the scale of the "On-Tact Export Consultation Meeting for Overseas Buyers" to nearly three times that of the previous event. A "Public Domestic Purchase Consultation Meeting," a 1:1 domestic consultation between public institution procurement officers related to the Daegu-Gyeongbuk cooling industry and participating companies, will also be held.

Major participating companies include Ritech Co., Ltd., which will exhibit an "electric road surface cleaning vehicle," Next ENM, which developed "Green Road System" technology, and Moderntec, which will display "power systems." Additionally, Samhan Siwon Co., Ltd., a clay brick manufacturer; Allfog Korea Co., Ltd., a cooling fog system specialist; and Nanum Insulation Co., Ltd., which offers outdoor unit-specific paint that reduces power consumption of heating and cooling devices by up to 30%, will participate as representative companies from the Daegu-Gyeongbuk region.

At the exhibition, visitors can also learn about heatwave response policies from Daegu City, Daegu Environment Corporation’s "electric-driven dust suction vehicle and road dust reduction project," Daegu Regional Meteorological Administration’s "mobile weather observation vehicle," and Daegu Regional Environmental Office’s "carbon neutrality policy," among other public institution initiatives in the Daegu area. Furthermore, the Korea Institute of Construction Living Environment Testing will introduce the "Urban Road Surface Temperature Reduction Mixed Material Development Project," supported by the Ministry of the Interior and Safety, Daegu City, and the Korea Institute for Advancement of Technology.

Moreover, the nationwide local government heatwave officer workshop, which was canceled last year due to the fourth wave of COVID-19, and the "Daegu International Heatwave Response Forum" (July 6-8), held both online and offline, will be held normally this year. Alongside these, various side events open to both cooling industry experts and the general public, such as the Cooling Industry Promotion Conference (July 6) and the "Heatwave and Carbon Neutrality" Citizen Forum (July 8), will provide opportunities to share thoughts on heatwaves, fine dust, and climate/environmental changes.

Various events for general visitors have also been prepared. Visitors can purchase seasonal home appliances (window air conditioners, air conditioners, circulators, fans, etc.) and consumer products such as cooling arm sleeves and cooling neckbands at special exhibition prices, and enjoy various prize giveaways. An "Upcycling Flea Market" will be set up where visitors can purchase upcycling-related products, and free upcycling experience events such as can art, flowerpots, bookmarks, and keyring making will be supported for visitors.

The 2022 Korea International Cooling Industry Expo will be open from 10 a.m. to 5 p.m. (until 4 p.m. on July 8), and free admission is available through pre-registration on the "Korea International Cooling Industry Expo" website. The exhibition office will hold a daily lottery for 300 pre-registered visitors to receive handheld fans as gifts.
