[Asia Economy Kim Hyun-jun, Golf Specialist Reporter] ○…"I wish they at least had the guts to say they joined LIV Golf because of the money."
Justin Thomas (photo), the champion of this season's second major, the PGA Championship, criticized players who joined LIV Golf, sponsored by Saudi Arabia's Public Investment Fund (PIF), on the 4th (Korean time), saying, "It’s even more annoying to put the meaning of reform on it." He said, "They all say it’s for the development of golf," and added, "I never thought they would struggle with nonsense and strange tour relationships," expressing, "I am really angry."
Thomas is a leading player supporting the PGA Tour along with 'Golf Emperor' Tiger Woods (both from the U.S.), Jon Rahm (Spain), and Rory McIlroy (Northern Ireland). McIlroy also said, "The PGA Tour has a history that money cannot buy," and after Dustin Johnson, recently Bryson DeChambeau and Patrick Reed (both from the U.S.) moved to LIV Golf, he added, "I’ve said this before, but I don’t understand why their words and actions are so different."
