[Asia Economy New York=Special Correspondent Joselgina] A shooting occurred on the 3rd (local time) at a shopping mall in Copenhagen, the capital of Denmark, resulting in several deaths. The police immediately arrested a suspect and stated that the possibility of terrorism cannot be ruled out.

According to AP News and others, Danish police announced that a shooting took place at a large shopping mall in the Amager area, located between downtown Copenhagen and the airport. The police confirmed, "Several people have died and several others have been injured in this shooting."

The suspect arrested immediately is a 22-year-old Danish male. The police currently believe it was a lone act with no other suspects involved. However, they added that the possibility of terrorism cannot be excluded.

Local media reported that people ran out of the shopping mall as gunshots were heard, and some hid in stores while crying. A witness said that they were in a clothing store inside the mall with their family when they heard 3 to 4 gunshots.

Sofie Andersen, mayor of Copenhagen, tweeted, "There have been terrible reports about the shooting incident," adding, "It is not yet clear how many people have died or been injured, but it is very serious."
