'Broker' Wins Top Award at Munich Film Festival in Germany

Broker, directed by Hirokazu Koreeda, won the top prize, the ARRI Award, at the Munich Film Festival in Germany. According to the festival on the 3rd, it received higher scores than nine other films in the competition section, Cinema Masters, including Eight Mountains by directors Charlotte Vandermeersch and Felix van Groeningen, and Leila's Brothers by Saeed Roustayi. The jury, which included actress Sibel Kekilli, praised it as "a film full of longing, determination, and detours." They described it as "the detours we sometimes have to take in life to discover ourselves and each other," and said, "We were able to find parts of ourselves in the film." Broker is a drama depicting the unexpected journey shared by people connected through baby boxes. Director Koreeda, who won the Palme d'Or at the Cannes Film Festival with Shoplifters (2018), collaborated with domestic actors and production staff to create the film. It stars Song Kang-ho, Gang Dong-won, Lee Ji-eun (IU), Bae Doona, and Lee Joo-young. Notably, Song Kang-ho won the Best Actor award at the Cannes Film Festival last May.
