Efforts to Reduce Carbon Emissions in Daily Life

[Asia Economy Reporter Minwoo Lee] Toss Payments has become the first company in the payment gateway (PG) industry to obtain an international standard certification related to environmental management.

Toss Payments announced on the 1st that it has acquired the 'ISO 14001' certification. ISO 14001 is an international standard certification for environmental management established by the International Organization for Standardization (ISO). It is awarded through a comprehensive evaluation of a company's overall environmental management.

During the certification audit process by the British Standards Institution (BSI), Toss Payments explained that it received high evaluations for ▲eco-friendly management policies and implementation plans ▲activities such as resource recycling and use of eco-friendly products ▲establishment of a monitoring system to measure office supply usage.

They emphasized that measures to reduce carbon emissions in daily life were particularly well received. For example, food waste generated in the workspace is recycled into fertilizer, and energy is saved by installing sensor lighting and a centralized heating and cooling control system.

Additionally, most of the merchant contract procedures, which previously used about 100,000 A4 sheets per month, were converted to electronic contracts, saving 98% of A4 paper usage compared to before. This is equivalent to planting 9.8 trees every month. Other initiatives include promoting a flexible work-from-home system and the use of cloud services.
