Silla University Holds 'Student Success GPS Class Model Performance Sharing Meeting' Silla University.


[Asia Economy Yeongnam Reporting Headquarters Reporter Hwang Du-yeol] The Center for Teaching and Learning Development at Silla University successfully concluded the ‘Student Success GPS Class Model Performance Sharing Meeting’ held online at 2 p.m. on the 29th.


The ‘Student Success GPS Class Model’ was developed by Silla University in 2020 with the goal of nurturing global intellectuals, creative professionals, and challenging emotional individuals, and has been in operation for three years.


The Center for Teaching and Learning Development supports the dissemination of the class model to cultivate creative and convergent talents equipped with six core competencies?Globality (communication competency, learning competency), Practice (thinking competency, cooperation competency), Sympathy (sharing competency, challenge competency)?and to activate class participation by both professors and students.


At the performance sharing meeting, six departments including Library and Information Science, Health Administration, Fire Safety, Dental Hygiene, Fashion Design, and Aircraft Maintenance presented the outcomes of classes applying the GPS model and shared excellent cases of student participation.


The Center for Teaching and Learning Development also announced the results of a competency evaluation survey conducted on about 120 students before and after the classes.


In the core competency section, scores improved by 0.15 points from 3.79 to 3.94 out of 5, and in the learning motivation section, scores increased by 0.16 points from 3.74 to 3.90.


Professor Kim Young-in of the Aircraft Maintenance Department introduced aircraft hardware educational support materials produced to assist the class.


The class involved students directly examining actual aircraft hardware such as aircraft and engines and inspecting damaged hardware, sharing the effects of student-participatory classes.


Lee Kyung-soon, director of the Center for Teaching and Learning Development, said, “Educational innovation for student success is achieved when students’ willingness to participate in classes, professors’ efforts to improve classes, and the university’s support for student success come together,” adding, “We will solidify the Student Success GPS class model program through customized teaching support.”
