Continuous Development of Boseong... Promise of the 1 Trillion Won Budget Era

Kim Cheol-woo, Bosung County Governor, Energetic Start of the 8th Elected Term 'Bosung 365 Running Again'

[Boseong=Asia Economy Honam Reporting Headquarters, Reporter Park Cheon-seok] Kim Cheol-woo, Governor of Boseong County, Jeonnam, announced the slogan for the 8th local government term, "Boseong Running Again 3·6·5," in his inaugural speech on July 1.

Governor Kim stated, "The top priority for the 8th local government term is proactive response to social and economic uncertainties and revitalization of the local economy to maintain a stable living foundation that residents can feel secure about."

In particular, the slogan "Boseong Running Again 365," proposed to lead the "Uninterrupted Development of Boseong," continues the policy direction of the 7th local government term while presenting new challenges and goals unique to the 8th term.

"Boseong Running Again 3·6·5" aims to thoroughly implement the three major SOC projects that have been underway, expand the Boseong600 project?an emphasis of the 7th term?across all administrative fields, and set new core goals in five key areas: welfare, agriculture/forestry/livestock/fisheries, culture/tourism, and others, to achieve tangible results.

Governor Kim said, "We will showcase Boseong's unique colors and characteristics by expanding the three major SOC projects initiated in the 7th term and the Boseong600 project, the flower of resident autonomy, across all administrative sectors, demonstrating a leading example."

The main projects of the three major SOC initiatives include ▲construction of the Boseong-Beolgyo Complex Community Center ▲urban gas supply to Boseong-eup ▲Gyeongjeon Line KTX connection ▲Josong 2nd Industrial Complex ▲promotion of Yulpo Port to a national fishing port ▲Yulpo Marine Leisure Tourism Hub project ▲creation of the Yeojaman National Mudflat Marine Garden ▲integrated tourism theme road between Beolgyo and Jangdo.

The "6" in "Boseong Running Again 3·6·5" represents the completion of the Boseong600 project, which has been a key policy since the 7th term.

Boseong County has been promoting the "Our Neighborhood, We Cultivate Boseong600" project, involving all 600 natural villages in Boseong County, to enable residents to proactively solve village problems, restore village communities, and build a warm local society.

This project attracted nationwide attention, was selected as a pilot project by Jeollanam-do, and expanded to 22 cities and counties in Jeonnam. Boseong County further developed the project into the Clean600 environmental cleanup initiative, leading to the subdivision and specialization of the Boseong600 project.

Governor Kim Cheol-woo said, "Boseong600 is a project that makes residents the protagonists of administration," adding, "In the 8th term, we will embed the spirit of the Boseong600 project into all initiatives to firmly guarantee residents' roles and rights in local autonomy and create a social atmosphere where residents can confidently voice their opinions."

The "5 Core Goals," presented as the first step toward a stronger Boseong, cover five areas: welfare, agriculture/forestry/livestock/fisheries, culture and tourism, local economy, and living conditions.

The first welfare policy focuses on establishing a quality educational foundation to protect the growing dreams of children and youth, strengthening infant care services, and expanding childbirth encouragement and childcare support funds.

Policies for local seniors include expanding free meals at senior cafeterias and improving overall health and medical services such as cataract surgery and prostate disease examinations.

The second goal, high-income agriculture/forestry/livestock/fisheries, plans to increase farmers' and fishermen's public interest allowances to 1.2 million KRW during the term, establish a price stabilization fund for agricultural products, implement ICT convergence projects in livestock, improve livestock odor issues, and expand the Fishing Village New Deal 300 project to promote balanced growth.

In particular, plans include developing various agricultural and fishery resources into high value-added tourism industries through projects such as the Boseong Tea Garden, Juwolsan Eco Healing Theme Park, and Yeojaman Beolgyo Mudflat Marine Theme Park.

The third cultural tourism goal aims to usher in an era of 10 million tourists by attracting visitors year-round. To keep Boseong's economy vibrant, nighttime tourism will be activated, and festivals and events diversified to increase attractions and entertainment.

Tourism infrastructure will also be expanded. New tourism hubs will be discovered through projects like Guduljang Healing Park and the Boseong Bibong Marine Tourism Integrated Network, connecting regions to foster a profitable tourism industry.

The fourth goal is to enhance local economic vitality by promoting jobs and industrial innovation. Governor Kim Cheol-woo said, "Revitalizing the local economy and providing quality jobs are directly linked to population issues," and pledged to significantly expand support for small business owners.

To this end, he proposed support for small business owners' Yellow Umbrella Mutual Aid subscription incentives, expanded issuance of Boseong Love Gift Certificates, modernization of Nokchagol Boseong Local Market, development of Josong 2nd Industrial Complex, expansion of senior jobs, and fostering social economy enterprises.

The final fifth goal is improving living conditions. Projects such as undergrounding power lines in Boseong-eup and Beolgyo-eup urban areas, urban regeneration New Deal projects, and rural hub revitalization will provide residents with a pleasant living environment and abundant leisure infrastructure.

Governor Kim Cheol-woo said, "There is much to do and many things we want to accomplish," adding, "Together with about 800 dedicated Boseong public officials, we will spare no effort and ability."
