[Asia Economy Reporter Ki-min Lee] President Yoon Suk-yeol will return home on the 1st after completing the 3-night, 5-day schedule of the North Atlantic Treaty Organization (NATO) summit.
During his visit to Madrid, Spain, President Yoon focused on economic diplomacy, meeting with local businesspeople until just before boarding the return flight.
According to the Blue House, on the last day of the tour, the 30th of last month (local time), President Yoon adopted the Korea-UK framework covering global public goods and trade with UK Prime Minister Boris Johnson, followed by a luncheon with Spanish business leaders.
President Yoon and Prime Minister Johnson agreed to strengthen cooperation in five areas: political affairs, shared values, global public goods, trade and prosperity, and security, and decided to establish dialogue channels for each sector.
At the luncheon with Spanish businesspeople, President Yoon met with key economic organization leaders such as the president of the Spanish Chamber of Commerce, the vice chairman of the Confederation of Employers and Industries, and the president of the Trade and Investment Corporation, as well as representatives from leading Spanish companies including Iberdrola and Ocean Winds.
President Yoon urged investment by saying, "Let us cooperate in various fields such as digital innovation and eco-friendly future industries," and promised, "The government will do its utmost to provide the necessary attention and support to resolve difficulties."
In particular, President Yoon also exchanged brief greetings with heads of state from countries with whom bilateral talks were not held this time, leaving room for future cooperation. The Blue House explained that this was a move to seize other economic opportunities that may arise after the NATO summit.
