Seoul Metro Conducted 15-Day Best Broadcasting King Contest Last Year, Selecting 8 Outstanding Broadcasting Talents
[Asia Economy Reporter Lim Cheol-young] Seoul Metro conducted the 2022 Best Announcer Contest and selected eight employees with excellent broadcasting skills. Among the eight winners, the ‘2022 Best Announcer’ with the highest score was Lee Geun-baek, who works as a train conductor at Line 4 Dongjak Operations Office.
On the 1st, the company announced that the contest was held on the 15th of last month, selecting one person from each of the 15 operations offices. Outstanding employees were chosen by comprehensively considering theoretical evaluations, practical evaluations, and customer compliment scores.
The honor of Best Announcer went to Lee Geun-baek, who works as a train conductor at Line 4 Dongjak Operations Office. Although Lee is a young employee with less than two years since joining, he is an excellent employee demonstrating skills comparable to a veteran.
Lee said, “I was selected as the representative of my department and felt a lot of pressure to the point of losing sleep, so I am happy and quite surprised to have been chosen as the best announcer. I think the good result came from composing the script to be easily understood from the passengers’ perspective and paying attention to speed and pronunciation under the guidance of the Dongjak Operations Office Manager and Deputy Manager,” he shared his thoughts.
Lee is also known as a ‘healing ambassador’ who receives many compliments from passengers. Many compliments were received, such as, “The phrase ‘blow away the hardships of the day’ helped me leave my troubles on the train and gave me strength for tomorrow,” and “While looking at my phone, I read a message telling me to forget the hard memories of the day and looked outside the window to see a beautiful night view. Thanks to that, I was able to spend the weekend enjoying something beautiful.”
Eight employees selected as excellent announcers in the Best Announcer Contest will receive commendations. The winners will participate in sound source production as needed and share excellent broadcasting scripts to improve overall broadcast quality.
Ahn Chang-gyu, Head of the Seoul Metro Operations Headquarters, said, “The broadcasting skills of train crew members are crucial not only for quickly informing passengers of response procedures during emergencies to ensure their safety but also as a service aspect that makes citizens feel comfortable using the subway. All employees of the company, including those recognized for their broadcasting skills this time, will continue to strive to ensure that all citizens arrive safely and comfortably at their destinations.”
