[Asia Economy Yeongnam Reporting Headquarters Reporter Choi Soon-kyung] The retirement ceremony of Seo Chunsu, the 42nd elected mayor of Hamyang County during the 7th local government term, was held at 10 a.m. on the 30th in the large conference room of the county office.

The ceremony was attended by about 200 people, including Mayor Seo Chunsu, his family and relatives, local institutions and social organizations, hometown associations, and local residents. The event proceeded in the order of the national anthem, viewing of the county administration activity video, bouquet presentation, farewell speech, retirement speech, and singing of the county anthem.

Mayor Seo Chunsu was elected as the mayor of Hamyang County in 2018 during the 7th local government term and led the county administration for four years under the slogan "Good Morning Jirisan Hamyang." His administrative policies focused on field administration for residents, growth agriculture for residents, customized welfare for residents, balanced development for residents, and income tourism for residents.

During his tenure, despite the COVID-19 pandemic, he successfully hosted the 2021 Hamyang Wild Ginseng Anti-Aging Expo, promoting the excellence of Hamyang wild ginseng and the future value of the anti-aging industry worldwide. He also attracted the Wild Ginseng Specialized Industry Promotion Center, opening up continuous development possibilities for the wild ginseng industry.

He led the "Rural Utopia Project," presenting a new model for balanced regional development, and laid the foundation for regional development through projects such as creating a specialized forest for autumn foliage at Jirisan Odorae, opening Daebongsan Recreation Valley, releasing 30,000㎡ of agricultural promotion area in Handeul to solve downtown parking issues, and being selected for the urban regeneration contest six consecutive times, the first in the county.

By attracting the Coupang Logistics Center, completing the Seha FS Agricultural Products Logistics Center, and being selected as a Ministry of Land, Infrastructure and Transport investment-leading district, he set the groundwork for Hamyang to grow into a logistics hub city and presented the future direction of Hamyang.

Through meticulous welfare services such as meal helpers at senior centers, bus boarding and alighting assistants, a flat fare of 1,000 won for rural buses, and operation of the Good Morning Hamyang Health Bus, he realized resident-centered welfare that makes everyone happy.

In his retirement speech, Mayor Seo Chunsu said, "Over the past four years, I have never forgotten the expectations and trust of the residents and have poured all my passion and effort without reservation." He reflected, "Without fearing change, facing crises head-on, breaking old customs, leading changes throughout the county administration, and working closely with residents to create future food sources, we were able to achieve valuable results."

He added, "Although I am leaving your side, the four years I spent with you were very happy and will be a great strength for me going forward. I will devote the rest of my life, as I have done so far, to the development of my hometown Hamyang, even if only in a small way."

After the retirement ceremony, Mayor Seo Chunsu shook hands with the employees who came out to the county office plaza to see him off, conveying encouragement and regret.
