At this meeting, President Yoon stated, "I hope this will be a good opportunity to exchange views on the roles and contributions of our four AP countries for peace and prosperity not only in the Indo-Pacific region but also worldwide."
On this day, President Yoon, along with Japanese Prime Minister Fumio Kishida, Australian Prime Minister Anthony Albanese, and New Zealand Prime Minister Jacinda Ardern, discussed current issues in the Asia-Pacific region during the summit meeting.
In his opening remarks, President Yoon said, "It is very meaningful that our four countries have come together in one place on the occasion of the NATO summit," adding, "The four countries have established a NATO partnership to respond to global security threats and have cooperated accordingly."
He continued, "Since Korea became a global partner country in 2006, it has jointly responded with NATO to security threats facing the international community," emphasizing, "Through today's meeting, I hope it will be a good opportunity to exchange views on the roles and contributions of our four AP countries for peace and prosperity not only in the Indo-Pacific region but also worldwide."
Prime Minister Kishida strongly condemned, saying, "Russia's invasion of Ukraine is an unacceptable act by the international community that violates rules and international order." He added, "The four Asia-Pacific partner countries should contribute to international peace and stability by linking with NATO, which shares our values, in various forms," and stated, "I would like to discuss cooperation to realize the Indo-Pacific vision."
