Seoul Eastern Workplace Moms Support Center to Hold 'In-Person Consultations' at Seoul International Early Childhood Education Expo Starting Next Month 7

[Asia Economy Reporter Lim Cheol-young] The Seoul Metropolitan Government is launching face-to-face outreach consultations to support the stable daily recovery of working moms and dads after pregnancy, maternity leave, and parental leave.

On the 30th, the Seoul Eastern Region Working Mom Support Center announced that it will operate a labor law consultation booth for childbirth and parental leave at the ‘2022 Seoul International Early Childhood Education Expo (hereafter Early Childhood Education Expo),’ held for four days from the 7th of next month at COEX Exhibition Hall A in Seoul.

Until now, the center has mainly provided consultations via phone and online to minimize face-to-face contact due to COVID-19. However, with the lifting of social distancing measures, the center’s certified labor attorneys and external experts will actively provide free consultations to prospective working moms and dads visiting the country’s largest early childhood education expo.

Visitors to the on-site consultation booth will receive special gifts such as shopping bags. Additionally, participants in the ‘Leave a Refreshing Cider Cheer Message’ event will be given kitchen towels containing information on maternal and paternal protection systems and consultation guidance. To participate in the ‘Leave a Cheer Message’ event, visitors can write their supportive messages on Post-it notes and stick them on a bulletin board set up on one side of the event hall.

Meanwhile, the center operates a comprehensive consultation office for working moms and dads in the eastern region of Seoul and is conducting campaigns such as posting consultation promotion banners inside subway Line 7 stations. On September 1st, it will hold the 10th-anniversary event ‘Working Mom Thank You Day.’

Kang Ji-hyun, Gender Equality Policy Officer of Seoul City, said, “During the COVID-19 period, disadvantages related to pregnancy, childbirth, and childcare for working moms and dads have sharply increased. Through ‘outreach consultations,’ Seoul aims to provide relief and support to as many people as possible.” She added, “Seoul will continue to protect the labor rights of working moms and dads and spare no effort in providing detailed attention and support to help them achieve work-life balance.”
