[Asia Economy Yeongnam Reporting Headquarters Reporter Kim Gwiyeol] The Bukhu-myeon Community Security Council in Andong City is starting a horticultural psychotherapy program for local elderly residents called “Healthy Body, Radiant Mind” funded by the “Together We Gather Happiness Fund.”

This program was prepared to promote the mental health of elderly people whose bodies and minds have been exhausted due to the prolonged COVID-19 pandemic. It will begin on June 28 and will be held every Tuesday, hosting 20 elderly participants over six sessions.

Kang Geumnam, chairman of the Bukhu-myeon Community Security Council, said, “We hope that this program will help heal the bodies and minds of elderly people who have suffered from loneliness and fear for a long time due to COVID-19, even if only a little.”

The “Together We Gather Happiness Fund” project is a joint fundraising effort by the Andong City Community Security Council and the Gyeongbuk Social Welfare Community Chest. Currently, the designated donation fund for Bukhu-myeon consists of 65 accounts totaling 8,286,000 KRW, which is fully allocated to Bukhu-myeon and is being used valuably for various specialized projects and emergency relief expenses.
