(Madrid, Spain = Asia Economy Reporter Baek Kyunghwan) It is reported that President Yoon Suk-yeol will mention at the scheduled Korea-US-Japan summit on the afternoon of the 29th (local time) that "the North Korean nuclear issue is a common task that requires urgent response from Korea, the US, and Japan."

A presidential office official said at the press center set up in Madrid on the morning of the same day, "President Yoon plans to propose that Korea, the US, and Japan closely cooperate so that North Korea returns to the dialogue table, while responding strongly to North Korean provocations based on principles."

President Yoon, US President Joe Biden, and Japanese Prime Minister Fumio Kishida will hold a "Korea-US-Japan trilateral summit" for about 25 minutes starting at 2:30 p.m. (9:30 p.m. Korean time) that day. This meeting among the three leaders is the first in 4 years and 9 months since the UN General Assembly in September 2017. The official added, "This trilateral summit will be an opportunity to agree on the urgent need for cooperation among Korea, the US, and Japan, which share fundamental values such as liberal democracy, human rights, and the rule of law."
