'Pre-Open Warm-up' Condition Check at JP McManus Pro-Am, PGA Tour Stayer Rory McIlroy and LIV Golf's Dustin Johnson 'Star Lineup'
[Asia Economy Reporter No Woo-rae] The "Returned Golf Emperor" Tiger Woods (USA, photo) will participate in the Ireland JP McManus Pro-Am.
On the 29th (Korean time), the American Golf Channel reported, "Woods will appear at the JP McManus Pro-Am held at Adare Manor in Limerick, Ireland, starting July 4." Woods took a break after withdrawing from the PGA Championship, a major on the PGA Tour, last month, and also gave up his third major US Open participation last month, making his future tournament appearances uncertain. Fortunately, his physical condition has recovered, and he will participate in the JP McManus Pro-Am as scheduled.
Woods suffered a critical injury in February last year when he was involved in a car rollover accident, shattering his right shin. Through superhuman rehabilitation, he appeared in two majors, the Masters and the PGA Championship, in April. He made a comeback by advancing to the main rounds in both tournaments, but during the PGA Championship, he withdrew after the third round, saying "my leg hurts too much." Recently, he was seen supporting his son Charlie at a junior golf tournament.
Following the JP McManus Pro-Am, the final major, The Open, will be held at the Old Course in St Andrews, Scotland, starting July 14, so many world-class golfers will participate alongside Woods. 'PGA Tour retainers' Rory McIlroy (Northern Ireland), Jon Rahm (Spain), Patrick Cantlay, and Collin Morikawa (both USA) will compete. Dustin Johnson, Bryson DeChambeau, and Brooks Koepka (USA), who left for LIV Golf, are also on the entry list.
