A Settlement for Summer Beverage Nomads

A Settlement for Summer Beverage Nomads

"If I were to describe today in one word, it's a day when nothing goes right. (omitted) I even went to try the new Starbucks menu item 'Strawberry Acai Lemonade,' which was said to be available only in the U.S., but it was sold out. The day before yesterday, yesterday, and today ㅠㅠ The season can't be over already... Refreshing and cool! It seemed perfect for summer, but when will I be able to try it?"

One day in June, this is part of an editor's diary entry. Yes, in the end, the new menu item has still not been tasted. It means the attempt to add it to the list of favorite summer drinks ended in failure. Hoping to try it soon, the editor would like to introduce their go-to summer beverages.

Every time you order, silently say "Sorry!" This drink is made by blending strawberries and peaches separately, resulting in a tangy and sweet flavor. Especially, the peach at the bottom tastes just like the seasonal fruit eaten in summer. You can taste it separately using a straw or sip deeply to enjoy the peach and strawberry in sequence. After drinking some, mixing them together blends perfectly without any awkwardness. Above all, despite being a frappe, the ice does not crunch but is very smooth.

Strongly recommended by a former 5-year part-time worker at Ediya! There are three types of iced blended teas: Pomegranate Apple Lime, Yuzu Pina Colada, and Grapefruit Navel Orange. Instead of syrup, real fruit syrup is used, allowing you to fully enjoy the fruit's flavor. Among the three, the tangy and refreshing Pomegranate Apple Lime is perfect for quenching summer thirst. It combines fresh pomegranate with various flowers and champagne scents, so think of it as a tangy red vinegar with rich aroma and taste. It not only quenches thirst but also replenishes vitamins.

Summer is like a jjimjilbang (Korean sauna). On hot summer days when sweat drips just by staying still, you can enjoy the happiness of a cup of sikhye (sweet rice drink) with floating ice cubes at Baekdabang. For an editor who has only tasted overly sugary sikhye all their life, this one is not excessively sweet, so even children would likely enjoy it. At the bottom of the sikhye are small rice grains made from 100% Gyeonggi rice. You can choose between crushed ice or cubed ice according to your preference, but if you want to evoke the jjimjilbang feeling, crushed ice is recommended.
