[Asia Economy (Daejeon) Reporter Jeong Il-woong] The Department of Ceramic Design at Mokwon University announced on the 29th that it has been selected for the "2022 Craft Design Education for University Students" project hosted by the Ministry of Culture, Sports and Tourism and organized by the Korea Craft & Design Foundation.
Following the project selection, students in the Department of Ceramic Design will receive education (credit-bearing courses) starting this September that combines traditional craft techniques with modern craft design, including learning traditional craft skills from the celadon master potter Jeong Ki-bong.
Students participating in the education will be awarded certificates of completion issued by the President of the Korea Craft & Design Foundation, and outstanding teams will receive awards from the Minister of Culture, Sports and Tourism.
The university plans to exhibit the student works created through the education in December at the Korea Craft & Design Foundation Gallery located in Insadong, Jongno-gu, Seoul.
A representative of the Department of Ceramic Design at Mokwon University said, "We hope that students in the Department of Ceramic Design will grow into creative craft and design professionals through craft design education."
