SSG.com Takes Steps to Manage Heat Health for Logistics Center Workers

SSG.com takes initiative in managing the health of logistics center workers.

[Asia Economy Reporter Jeon Jin-young] SSG.com is making every effort to manage the health of logistics center workers by providing heat illness prevention kits to all delivery drivers ahead of the hot summer season.

On the 29th, according to SSG.com, to prevent heat-related illnesses, they have created and are providing the ‘SSG Cool Kit’ to all delivery drivers working at three NE.O (NE.O) online-only logistics centers located in Gimpo and Yongin, as well as at more than 120 Emart PP (Picking & Packing) centers nationwide.

The SSG Cool Kit delivered to delivery drivers consists of a fan printed with summer health care tips and emergency response methods for heat illness, a cool scarf to absorb sweat and lower body temperature, an ice punch (cool pack), saline glucose, and a pouch for storing health care items.

Since early June this year, a health manager at the health care room has been conducting paraffin therapy twice a week or more for participants as part of a musculoskeletal disorder prevention program. This is part of efforts to create a safe logistics center working environment by installing health care rooms at the three NE.O centers since October last year, appointing dedicated health managers (nurses), and regularly checking the health of logistics center workers, including delivery drivers.

The health care rooms within the NE.O centers are equipped with rehabilitation devices such as an infrared irradiator, paraffin bath, and heat therapy device to provide basic pain management, as well as specialized diagnostic equipment like body composition analyzers and vascular age measurement devices to prevent cerebrovascular and cardiovascular diseases.

Yang Hee-jung, head of SSG.com’s Safety Management Team, said, “We hope the heat illness prevention kits will be of some help to delivery drivers ahead of the peak hot season,” and added, “We will continue to strengthen multifaceted support for the health management of logistics center workers.”
