[Jeju=Asia Economy Honam Reporting Headquarters Reporter Hwang Jeongpil] A tourist who was swept away to the open sea in an instant by a sudden wind while playing in the water with a rubber tube along with companions at Hyeopjae Beach in Jeju City was rescued by the Jeju Coast Guard.
According to the Jeju Maritime Police Station on the 28th, a report was received at 5:56 PM the previous day that one person riding a tube at Hyeopjae Beach in Jeju City was drifting out to the open sea.
Upon receiving the report, the coastal rescue boat from Hallim Police Substation urgently dispatched and arrived at the scene at 6:04 PM, immediately rescuing Ms. A (female tourist in her 30s) and safely returning to Hallim Port with no health issues.
A Jeju Coast Guard official said, “Due to strong winds or currents, one can be quickly swept out to the open sea and face dangerous situations, so we urge everyone to always check their location with companions and wear life jackets while playing in the water to ensure safety.”
