We Will Care for Local Seniors... Daegu EXCO Hosts Love Kimchi Sharing Event

100 Elderly Living Alone Households, Strong Support for Getting Through the Hot Summer

We Will Care for Local Seniors... Daegu EXCO Hosts Love Kimchi Sharing Event Thirty employees of Daegu EXCO participated in the Love Kimchi Sharing Volunteer Activity on the 28th, delivering 300 kg of homemade kimchi to 100 single elderly households in Buk-gu, demonstrating their love for the community.

[Asia Economy Yeongnam Reporting Headquarters Reporter Yeo Jong-gu] On the 28th, 30 executives and employees of Daegu EXCO participated in a kimchi sharing volunteer activity, delivering 300 kg of kimchi they made themselves to 100 single elderly households in Buk-gu, practicing love for the local community.

This event was organized to help neighbors who could not make kimchi due to financial difficulties at a time when the kimchi made during the winter season was running low.

In March, the first quarter volunteer activity of executives and employees involved sharing bread with love, and in June, the local specialty direct transaction market linked to the Daegu Flower Expo was expanded more than last year.

The bread sharing volunteer activity saw EXCO executives and employees make 1,200 pieces of bread, double the amount from last year, which were delivered to about 120 places including local children's centers and single elderly households.

Since November 2020, to help local farms struggling due to COVID-19, this year the event was linked with two exhibitions with a high proportion of middle-aged and older visitors, and the number of participating farms was recruited at more than double the previous amount.

In June, the first half specialty direct transaction market linked to the Daegu Flower Expo featured participation from nine farms, showcasing fresh summer agricultural and specialty products such as cherries from Sangdong Village in Daegu, cucumbers from Banyawol, Seongju melons, and salty tomatoes from Gyeongju.

In the second half of the year, the meaning of volunteer activities involving executives and employees, characterized by ‘sustainability’ and ‘customization,’ will continue, and support for the local community will not be spared.

In the third quarter, they will seek local farms in need of labor and visit them directly to assist with autumn harvests, and in the fourth quarter, they plan to conduct briquette sharing volunteer activities to provide warmth during the cold winter.

Additionally, EXCO plans to continue contributing to the local community by providing a safe recruitment testing site to support job creation throughout the year, offering free or discounted outdoor exhibition spaces to promote agricultural product consumption, and providing free auditorium rentals to revitalize local performing arts culture.

Seo Jang, CEO of EXCO, said, “We hope the kimchi made by EXCO executives and employees will bring vitality to neighbors in need during the hot summer,” and added, “We will continue to practice ongoing sharing and take the lead in playing a role as a catalyst for regional coexistence.”
