[Asia Economy Reporter Lee Gwan-joo] Boryung (formerly Boryung Pharmaceutical) announced on the 28th that it has completed third-party verification in accordance with international standards for the "Workplace Greenhouse Gas Emissions and Energy Usage Report (Greenhouse Gas Inventory)" from the Korea Quality Foundation, a global management quality institution.
The establishment of a greenhouse gas inventory is intended to annually assess the current status of greenhouse gas emissions at the workplace and use the data to concretize greenhouse gas reduction plans. It is regarded as the starting point for realizing carbon-neutral management.
This greenhouse gas inventory verification targeted all greenhouse gas emission facilities at Boryung’s headquarters, Ansan campus, and Yesan campus from 2019 to 2021.
Boryung is not obligated to verify or reduce greenhouse gases under systems such as the greenhouse gas emissions trading scheme or target management system, but conducted this verification to fulfill corporate environmental responsibility and enhance the reliability of its greenhouse gas emission management capabilities. Additionally, through this, it plans to proactively respond to environmental issues such as the globally spreading demand for greenhouse gas reduction.
Boryung plans to conduct third-party verification of the greenhouse gas inventory regularly every year. Bae Min-je, Head of the Management Support Division, said, “Through third-party verification that identifies the causes and amounts of greenhouse gas emissions, integrated management of carbon emissions at the company-wide level has been further advanced,” and added, “We will continue to promote ESG activities that practically fulfill corporate responsibilities, including environmental management.”
