[Asia Economy Reporter Jong-il Park] Yongsan-gu (District Mayor Seong Chang-hyun) has completed the renovation to establish a digital studio broadcasting system 12 years after launching its internet broadcasting station.
Since its launch in 2010, the district's internet broadcasting station has consistently delivered various local news by producing over 200 video contents annually.
With the establishment of the digital studio, podcasting, news, and panel discussions filming, as well as live streaming of external events, are expected to become more active.
A district official stated, “Although the project budget was not sufficient, we aimed to create a cost-effective digital studio that maximizes usability,” adding, “In the future, we will actively consider ‘studio sharing’ available for residents as well as producing promotional videos for district administration.”
The district invested 340 million KRW over two months starting April 25 to improve the environment, install the digital broadcasting system, conduct pilot operations, and provide operator training.
The digital studio renovation focused on interior design to utilize the space as a multipurpose studio, addressing issues such as stage sets, outdated lighting, and noise blocking from heating and cooling systems.
For stable infrastructure supporting in-house broadcasting and YouTube live streaming, the system was configured to allow ▲manual video signal connection in case of failure ▲primary and backup video signal usage ▲and audiovisual (A/V) signal system capable of accommodating video signals when expanding the system.
The studio walls were replaced from the previous photo wall to a video wall using multi-vision. The multi-vision consists of 55-inch LED panels arranged in 3 rows and 6 columns, enabling effective screen presentation.
Notably, considering live coverage of external events, a mobile all-in-one integrated broadcasting system was introduced. To ensure smooth broadcasting, additional video signal input/output and channel expansion components (I/O capture cards) were installed to support various SNS live streams.
The district also conducted on-site practical training to enable independent operation of the newly established system, receiving operation manuals and know-how from the project contractor. The training included system operation, backup, and emergency procedures.
Seong Chang-hyun, Mayor of Yongsan-gu, said, “District administration promotion must evolve with the times,” adding, “The digital studio will greatly help enhance the district brand value by delivering district news promptly.”
Yongsan-gu internet broadcasting programs can be viewed on the internet broadcasting station’s website and Yongsan-gu Office’s YouTube channel. Major programs include ‘Daily Look,’ delivering various district news weekly; ‘Yongsanchaek (Yongsan’s Walking Path),’ exploring different neighborhood spots while walking; and ‘Job Information,’ sharing new local employment news weekly.
Eunpyeong-gu (District Mayor Kim Mi-kyung) has selected this year’s ‘Key Tasks for Proactive Administration’ to establish a culture of proactive administration and create administrative outcomes that residents can feel.
Amid rapidly changing social and economic environments such as the COVID-19 pandemic and the Fourth Industrial Revolution, the district aims to break away from the habitual practice of following precedents and foster a flexible and agile administrative culture.
The district selected projects expected to improve resident convenience and resolve inconveniences as this year’s key proactive administration tasks.
The selected projects will be closely supported throughout the entire process by fully utilizing proactive administration systems such as decision-making support and exemption, prior consulting, and preferential selection of excellent cases and public officials. Progress and performance will be checked quarterly to enhance execution.
This year’s key tasks include five projects: ▲Establishment of a real-time illegal parking management system ▲Expansion of CCTV for illegal parking enforcement ▲Smart shared property survey using cutting-edge surveying technology (photo) ▲Institutional arrangements for safety and health obligations in response to the Serious Accident Punishment Act ▲Mobile woodworking service ‘Hope Woodworking Workshop.’
Especially, the ‘Real-time Illegal Parking Management System,’ the first of its kind established by a Seoul autonomous district, is an advanced system that integrates illegal parking CCTV footage, enforcement vehicle information, and other parking-related data in real time to the Parking Complaint Comprehensive Center, enabling centralized management and control.
The district expects that selecting these key tasks will reduce resident inconveniences and improve satisfaction with administrative services.
Kim Mi-kyung, Mayor of Eunpyeong-gu, said, “We will continue to do our best to ensure that the selected key proactive administration projects proceed smoothly, prioritizing resident safety and convenience.”
Seongdong-gu (District Mayor Jung Won-oh) will start operating the ‘Seongdong Spring Water Warehouse’ from July 1.
The ‘Seongdong Spring Water Warehouse’ was first operated last year to protect residents’ health from heat-related illnesses such as sudden dizziness, headaches, severe thirst, and dehydration during outdoor activities in summer heat disasters.
The ‘Seongdong Spring Water Warehouse’ installs refrigerators in places frequently used by residents, such as riverside walking trails, and provides stored bottled water to residents. The district plans to supply 200 bottles of 500ml water three times daily at each location, totaling 5,400 bottles free of charge.
Operating until August when heatwaves are severe, the ‘Seongdong Spring Water Warehouse’ will be installed at nine locations (Salgoti, Eungbong Sports Park, Geumho, Oksu, Seongsu Hanshin Apartment entrances, near Yongdap Station, Songjeong Embankment Road, Rainbow Garden, and in front of the district office).
Last year, the ‘Seongdong Spring Water Warehouse’ operated at the health center’s screening clinic, where waiting lines for COVID-19 tests surged. Some locations were moved to ‘Rainbow Garden’ (located in Haengdang-dong), a place frequently used by residents, and refrigerators were concentrated in places like walking trails and entrance gates to maximize resident access.
To prevent COVID-19 spread, hand sanitizers are placed next to refrigerators, and autonomous disaster prevention teams from each local community center are designated as separate managers to prevent monopolization of water or storage of personal items inside refrigerators, enhancing convenience.
Notably, the ‘Seongdong Spring Water Warehouse’ provides unlabeled bottled water and places collection bins nearby for separate disposal after use. The daily collected bottles, made of transparent plastic, will be recycled.
Based on a survey of about 250 users last year showing positive responses to the ‘Seongdong Spring Water Warehouse’ operation, detailed feedback such as water volume was collected. This year, it will again provide refreshing relief like an oasis in the city to residents suffering from thirst due to heatwaves and humid weather.
Jung Won-oh, Mayor of Seongdong-gu, said, “We operate the ‘Seongdong Spring Water Warehouse’ with the thought that a sip of water can be precious to someone suffering from thirst in the scorching heat,” adding, “We will continue to strive to help residents have a healthy summer and improve daily convenience.”
Gwanak-gu (District Mayor Park Jun-hee) has been honored as the final winner of the ‘2022 Seoul-type Garment Manufacturing Workplace Environment Support Project’ announced by Seoul City.
The ‘Seoul-type Garment Manufacturing Workplace Environment Improvement Support Project’ provides supplies to improve the working environment of garment manufacturers who work in harsh conditions exposed to harmful substances such as dust and poor ventilation due to the nature of garment manufacturing work, contributing to enhancing competitiveness and revitalizing the local economy.
The supplies supported include safety management items (fire extinguishers, fire detectors, etc.), work environment improvement items (industrial vacuum cleaners, LED lighting, etc.), and items needed to improve work efficiency (pressing machines, cutting tables, etc.).
The district expanded the budget from the full application amount of 260 million KRW from Seoul City by adding district funds to a total of 350 million KRW, planning to support up to 8 million KRW for 52 local companies.
Notably, the district has been selected for the Seoul City workplace environment improvement support project for four consecutive years from 2019 to this year, becoming a reliable support for garment manufacturing small businesses by providing a safe and pleasant working environment.
In February, the district opened the ‘Gwanak-gu Small Garment Manufacturing Collaboration Center’ (1517-1 Nambusunhwan-ro), equipped with specialized facilities such as ▲cutting rooms and CAD rooms ▲training rooms and pattern rooms ▲shared workshops and sample rooms in the concentrated garment manufacturing areas of Sinsa, Jowon, and Miseong-dong, laying a foundation for the revitalization of the stagnant garment manufacturing industry.
Additionally, the district supports local garment manufacturing small businesses through various programs such as shared workshop use, capacity-building education, consulting, establishing a small business network in the concentrated district, developing joint brands and products, and market development to enhance market competitiveness.
Park Jun-hee, Mayor of Gwanak-gu, said, “Gwanak-gu will spare no support to strengthen the self-sustainability and competitiveness of garment manufacturing small businesses so that the stagnant garment manufacturing industry can become the center of the local economy, and promises to focus all administrative power on revitalizing the garment manufacturing industry.”
