Yongsan-gu to Conduct Customized Integrity Training on Corruption-Prone Areas for 50 Public Officials in Construction Supervision, Subsidies, Taxation, and Permits on the 28th from 3 to 5 PM at Yongsan Art Hall Cultural Lecture Room
[Asia Economy Reporter Park Jong-il] Geumcheon-gu (Mayor Yu Seong-hoon) is conducting a "Visiting Admissions Officer Special Lecture," where current admissions officers visit local high schools to give lectures on strategies for applying through the comprehensive student record screening process.
Geumcheon-gu has been operating admissions officer special lectures since last year to support career and college admissions guidance.
On May 20, a lecture was held for teachers at Dongil Girls' High School, and on June 16, a "College Admission Support Strategy Focused on Comprehensive Student Record Screening Tailored for Specialized High Schools" special lecture was held at Seoul Magnet High School.
In particular, Kim Myung-ok, an admissions officer who gave the lecture at Seoul Magnet High School (currently an admissions officer at Kwangwoon University and a regular panelist on the Korea University Education Council's official YouTube channel "Where to Go to College"), introduced specialized high school students?who relatively lack admissions information?to topics such as ▲ eligibility for application by university and screening type according to specialized high school types ▲ special admissions for graduates of specialized high schools ▲ admissions for employed applicants, receiving positive responses from the students.
One student who participated said, "The explanations were very detailed and easy to understand, so it was a very beneficial time where I learned a lot of new things."
The admissions officer special lectures will continue with a session for 3rd-year high school teachers at Munil High School on July 4, and for all 2nd-year students at Dongil Girls' High School on July 14.
Yu Seong-hoon, Mayor of Geumcheon-gu, said, "Geumcheon-gu will continue to provide various customized career and college admissions support programs needed by local students and schools," adding, "We will continue to improve students' academic performance through career and college admissions support and help solve parents' concerns together."
For more details, inquiries can be made to the Education Support Division of Geumcheon-gu Office.
Yongsan-gu (Mayor Seong Jang-hyun) will conduct a tailored training called "Pinpoint Integrity Education" on the 28th for personnel in charge of corruption-prone areas.
The training aims to recognize minor actions that could potentially be linked to corruption and to preemptively block risk factors for corruption occurrence.
The "Customized Integrity Education for Corruption-Prone Areas" will have a total of 50 participants. It will be held on the 28th from 3 PM for two hours at the Yongsan Art Hall Cultural Lecture Room, located on the 3rd basement floor of the Yongsan-gu Comprehensive Administrative Town.
The district will share the results of its integrity measurement with employees and invite Kwon Min-ho (CEO of the integrity brand Cheongchun and a registered professional instructor at the Integrity Training Institute) to deliver a lecture aimed at enhancing corruption prevention mindset.
After the lecture, an online survey using QR codes will be conducted to assess satisfaction with the training, the instructor, and the outcomes, which will be reflected in future integrity education initiatives.
A district official stated, "Personnel responsible for corruption-prone areas must attend," adding, "If the entire team is responsible for the work, all members will be encouraged to attend within the scope that does not interfere with civil complaint handling."
Corruption-prone areas are tasks subject to external integrity evaluations of public institutions conducted annually by the Anti-Corruption and Civil Rights Commission. In July 2021, the district submitted a total of 2,711 evaluation items. By category, these include ▲ construction supervision (252 items) ▲ subsidies (747 items) ▲ taxation and finance (841 items) ▲ permits and approvals (871 items).
Among these, construction supervision tasks are handled by seven departments: Finance, Roads, Water Management, Parks and Greenery, Autonomous Administration, Women and Family, and Senior and Youth Affairs. Subsidy support tasks are mainly managed by Women and Family, Senior and Youth Affairs, Welfare Policy, Job Economy, Housing, Autonomous Administration, Talent Development, and Culture and Sports departments.
Taxation and finance tasks such as corporate acquisition tax imposition, purchase of public property, permission for use and profit, and lease contracts are handled by Taxation Division 1, Finance, and Construction Management departments. Various permits and approvals including outdoor advertising, building use changes, temporary building construction, factory establishment, and development activities are processed by Construction Management, Architecture, Traffic Administration, Urban Planning, Redevelopment Project, Real Estate Information, Clean Environment, Job Economy, and Parks and Greenery departments.
Seong Jang-hyun, Mayor of Yongsan-gu, said, "Prompt, accurate, and courteous civil complaint handling is everything for improving external integrity," adding, "Enhancing integrity mindset will play a significant role in increasing residents' trust in district administration."
