[Asia Economy Reporter Jeon Jinyoung] Emart Traders is opening a store in Dongtan.
According to Emart Traders on the 27th, the Dongtan store will have a pre-opening period until the 29th and officially open on the 30th. The plan is to establish itself as a representative warehouse discount store in the southern Gyeonggi region based on the Dongtan New Town.
Traders Dongtan store is located in a key commercial area with about 1.32 million households within a 10km radius. It is situated in Osandong, Hwaseong-si, Gyeonggi-do, near SRT Dongtan Station, connecting not only Dongtan 1 and 2 New Towns but also Yongin, Hwaseong, Suwon, and Osan cities.
The Dongtan store consists of a total of four floors from basement level 1 to the 3rd floor above ground. The basement 1st floor and ground 1st floor stores cover an area of 12,297㎡ (3,720 pyeong). Including the outdoor parking lot, parking is available for 865 vehicles. On the ground 1st floor, a tenant store of 2,347㎡ (710 pyeong) has been arranged, attracting a cultural center and 16 brand and F&B stores. This reflects the characteristics of the new town commercial area, where the population ratio of people in their 30s and 40s is more than 10% higher than the national average.
A cultural center offering high-quality collaboration lectures will open in an area of 443㎡ (134 pyeong), ranging from 'Club Originals,' which provides advanced collaborative lectures, to 'Little Club,' where children and parents can enjoy sensory satisfaction experiences. To commemorate the opening of the Dongtan store, special classes such as Chef Tonio’s ‘Italian One-Meal Cooking Class’ and fashion stylist Seo Sugyeong’s ‘Summer Styling’ will be held.
To celebrate the opening of the Dongtan store, Emart will showcase various fresh foods such as Shinbi peaches, Wachon plums, Wagyu tomahawks, and premium ribs, and hold promotions on processed foods including ramen, instant rice, and oils. Until August 31, a ‘Meat Subscription Ticket’ will be sold, offering a 10,000 KRW discount when purchasing one of over 30 packaged meat products such as Korean beef sirloin and striploin, domestic chilled pork belly and neck, and Australian chilled Wagyu.
Various liquor promotions have also been prepared. For all high-priced wines over 100,000 KRW, a 20% discount is applied when purchasing two or more bottles with a Samsung Card, and a 30% discount when purchasing three or more bottles. Additionally, a large quantity of Balvenie 12-year and 14-year stocks has been secured for limited sale, and the ‘Glen Grant 1957 Mr. George Legacy Second Edition (19.8 million KRW)’ from ‘Gordon & MacPhail,’ which high-end whiskey enthusiasts rave about, will be sold for the first time at a large discount store.
Meanwhile, Traders Dongtan store received green building certification from the development stage. From floor to ceiling, major building materials used in the building are low-carbon, resource-recycled, and environmentally certified materials. Rainwater and discharged groundwater are recycled, and water-saving devices are used to reduce water consumption.
Employees will pilot wear uniform vests made by Emart and Black Yak by recycling 17 PET bottles.
Kwon Ohhyun, head of Traders operations, stated, “With Traders’ overwhelming products and price competitiveness, combined with customer service facilities tailored to the local commercial area, it will establish itself as a representative lifestyle shopping space in the southern Gyeonggi region.”
