[Asia Economy Reporter Koo Chae-eun] On the 26th, the Democratic Party of Korea stated regarding the prolonged deadlock in the negotiations for the second half of the National Assembly's organization, "We will not give up our will to normalize the National Assembly and will wait until tomorrow morning."

Lee Soo-jin, the Democratic Party's floor spokesperson, said in a written briefing, "We hope the People Power Party will show the responsibility befitting the ruling party in charge of state affairs."

Earlier, Floor Leader Park Hong-geun proposed conceding the chairmanship of the Legislation and Judiciary Committee on the condition of participating in the Special Committee on Judicial Reform, setting tomorrow morning as the 'deadline' for a response, thereby applying pressure.

Regarding the People Power Party's stance of not accepting participation in the Special Committee on Judicial Reform, Lee criticized, "They urge compliance with the agreement between the floor leaders of both parties concerning the Legislation and Judiciary Committee, but refuse to implement the bipartisan agreement on the normalization of the prosecution. With an attitude of 'swallow when sweet, spit out when bitter,' is it even possible to negotiate, let alone cooperate?"

He added, "It is questionable whether the People Power Party has the will to normalize the National Assembly and whether they feel a sense of responsibility for the livelihood economy facing a looming crisis. Is it acceptable for the ruling party responsible for state administration to enjoy such a vacuum amid difficult economic conditions?"

He further stated, "If there is no progressive change in the People Power Party's attitude toward normalizing the National Assembly by tomorrow morning, the parliamentary vacancy will exceed one month. Meanwhile, the public is crying out over high inflation, high oil prices, high interest rates, and high exchange rates."
