[Asia Economy Yeongnam Reporting Headquarters Reporter Kim Yong-woo] A man in his 50s who brutally assaulted a taxi driver in his 70s, causing serious injuries, and fled after hijacking the taxi has been arrested by the police.
According to the Dongbu Police Station in Busan on the 26th, around 2 a.m. that day, Mr. A (male) forced the taxi driver out of the vehicle on the road near Pier 5 in Jwacheon-dong, Dong-gu, Busan, assaulted him, and then drove off with the taxi.
The taxi driver was seriously injured and transported to a hospital for treatment.
It is reported that Mr. A took a taxi in Gwang-an-dong, Suyeong-gu, and suddenly verbally abused and assaulted the driver before fleeing with the vehicle.
After receiving the victim’s report, detectives from the Dongbu Police Station conducted a search and found the vehicle in Choryang-dong. Around 7:50 a.m., Mr. A was urgently arrested near a residential area close to where the vehicle was found.
The police plan to apply for an arrest warrant for Mr. A on charges of robbery and injury after investigating the motive for the crime.
