[Seoul Autonomous News] Dongdaemun-gu Seoul Yakryeongsi Korean Medicine Museum's Bokgeomgwan Process Document Recognized as the Only Domestic Record Showing Initial and Secondary Inspection Stages... Recruitment for the 1st Gangnam-gu Child Policy Participation Group
[Asia Economy Reporter Park Jong-il] Dongdaemun-gu (Mayor Yoo Deok-yeol) announced that the ‘Bokgeomgwan Haengchasihain Sikryogi,’ a traditional Korean medicine artifact at the Seoul Yakryeongsi Korean Medicine Museum (Seoul Oriental Medicine Promotion Center), has been designated as a cultural asset by the Seoul Metropolitan Government.
The ‘Bokgeomgwan Haengchasihain Sikryogi’ is a type of accounting record that clearly organizes the details of meals and various foods served by the government office to Bokgeomgwan and his entourage during their visit to Sangwon County, Pyeongan Province. It has been held by the Seoul Yakryeongsi Korean Medicine Museum since 2018.
While the final product of the coroner’s inspection process for death cases in the provinces during the Joseon Dynasty, known as the ‘Geoman,’ is well known, the newly designated ‘Bokgeomgwan Haengchasihain Sikryogi’ is a rare document showing the initial and secondary inspection stages, recognized for its value and designated as a Seoul cultural asset.
The designated artifact will be exhibited at the Seoul Yakryeongsi Korean Medicine Museum for about two months starting in July and will be open to visitors. For more details, inquiries can be made to the Seoul Oriental Medicine Promotion Center.
A district official stated, “We are pleased that the value of the Korean medicine artifact held at the Seoul Yakryeongsi Korean Medicine Museum, located in the Korean Medicine Industry Special Zone, has been recognized through this opportunity,” adding, “We hope many people visit during the exhibition period to tour the museum and experience various wellness activities.”
The Seoul Yakryeongsi Korean Medicine Museum was selected last year as an excellent resident-led regional balanced New Deal project by the Ministry of the Interior and Safety. It is currently conducting the ‘AR Memory Journey with the Museum and Metaverse Yakryeong Market Construction’ project with merchants, and operates programs including museum tours, Korean medicine-related education, experiences, and exhibitions.
Gangnam-gu (Mayor Jung Soon-gyun) is recruiting 15 members for the ‘1st Gangnam-gu Child Policy Participation Group’ by the 29th, targeting children aged 10 to 13 (grades 3 to 6) who live in Gangnam or attend schools in the area.
The Gangnam-gu Child Policy Participation Group was formed to create a ‘Child-Friendly City Gangnam’ where children recognize themselves not as objects of protection but as subjects of rights by directly discovering and proposing child policies needed by the district.
Selected members will participate in activities over six months, including ▲basic education such as child rights education in July and August ▲a meeting with the ombudsman in August ▲local exploration and policy proposal activities from September to November ▲and a policy proposal presentation in December, receiving a certificate of appointment. Outstanding members will also receive a commendation from the district mayor.
Applications can be submitted by filling out the application form on the Gangnam-gu Office and Yeoksam Youth Center websites and sending it via email. Results will be announced on July 1 on the Yeoksam Youth Center website.
Choi Kyung-hee, head of the Women and Family Division, said, “Gangnam-gu is monitoring and proposing policies for 41 child-friendly projects from the perspective of children and youth through the ‘3rd Child and Youth Participation Committee,’ mainly composed of middle and high school students, and the newly recruited ‘1st Child Policy Participation Group.’ We will continue to listen to the opinions of children of various classes and ages to improve awareness of children’s rights and promote customized child-friendly projects.”
