Mokpo National University Alumni Association Holds Workshop for Local Election Alumni Winners


[Asia Economy Honam Reporting Headquarters Reporter Choi Jae-kyung] On the 21st, Jeonnam National Mokpo University and the Mokpo University Alumni Association held a 6.1 local election alumni elected officials workshop at the Mokpo Shangri-La Beach Hotel.


About 80 university officials and alumni attended the workshop, including President Park Min-seo, Senior Vice President Jeon Jin-woo of the Alumni Association, Mayor-elect of Mokpo Park Hong-ryul, and County Governor-elect of Sinan Park Woo-ryang.


In particular, among the 30 Mokpo University alumni elected officials from the 2022 local elections, a total of 18 elected officials attended, including Park Hong-ryul, Park Woo-ryang, Park Moon-ok, Choi Seon-guk, Choi Jeong-hoon, Jeon Gyeong-seon, Na Gwang-guk, Lee Jae-tae, Yoon Myung-hee, Kim Joo-woong, Joo Man-jong, Kim Bong-seong, Kim Hyuk-seong, Kim Gwan-ho, Choi Ji-seon, Lee Ho-seong, Baek Dong-gyu, and Choi Yuran.


President Park Min-seo of Mokpo University said, “Building on the proud history and tradition cultivated by Mokpo University alumni, we will look ahead to the next 100 years and strive to establish ourselves as a university loved and respected in the region together with the 60,000 alumni.” He added, “We ask for the generous interest and support of the alumni elected officials so that we can continue the path of growth for Mokpo University.”


As a representative of the elected officials, Park Woo-ryang, County Governor of Sinan, said, “Before becoming a four-term county governor of Sinan, I graduated from Mokpo National University of Education, 9th class, and I am an honorary Doctor of Education from Mokpo University, so I am an alumnus of Mokpo University.” He added, “Knowing well that regional development is university development, I will do my best as one of the alumni to revitalize the local economy and ensure the university grows alongside.”


Meanwhile, Mokpo University produced a total of 30 elected officials in the June 1 local elections, including one Jeonnam Provincial Superintendent of Education, three heads of basic local governments, ten metropolitan city and provincial council members, and sixteen city, county, and district council members. In the 2018 local elections, 22 were elected.
