Nuclear Power Project 'On Track'... Shinori 5 and 6 Units Achieve 1 Million Feet of Piping Installation

An Event Held to Pray for the Safe Construction of Nuclear Power Plants

Nuclear Power Project 'On Track'... Shinori 5 and 6 Units Achieve 1 Million Feet of Piping Installation A ceremony is being held to celebrate the achievement of installing 1 million feet of piping for Shin-Gori Units 5 and 6.

[Asia Economy Yeongnam Reporting Headquarters, Reporter Kim Yong-woo] Korea Hydro & Nuclear Power's Saewool Nuclear Power Headquarters held a ceremony on the 22nd at the construction site in Seosaeng-myeon, Ulju-gun, to commemorate the installation of 1 million feet of piping for Shin-Kori Units 5 and 6, along with a safety prayer event prioritizing safety in nuclear power plant construction.

The piping of a nuclear power plant, which functions like the blood vessels of the human body, is a critical facility connecting major equipment and forming each system.

Achieving the installation of 1 million feet marks the stage when the nuclear power plant equipment can operate normally, representing the completion phase of mechanical and electrical works.

Lee Sang-min, head of Saewool Nuclear Power Headquarters, said, “I would like to commend the efforts of the construction site workers who are doing their best to build a nuclear power plant that the public can trust and feel safe about. In particular, I urge all workers to raise their safety awareness to achieve zero serious accidents.”

Shin-Kori Units 5 and 6 have a comprehensive progress rate of 78.96% (as of the end of May), with Unit 5 scheduled for completion in March 2024 and Unit 6 in March 2025, respectively.
