[Asia Economy Yeongnam Reporting Headquarters Reporter Hwang Du-yeol] The 2030 Busan World Expo Bid Committee, the Ministry of Trade, Industry and Energy, and Busan City conducted a comprehensive domestic and international promotional campaign in conjunction with the 170th BIE General Assembly held from the 20th to the 21st.
The General Assembly was held from the 20th to the 21st, and the second presentation (PT) by the bidding candidate countries took place, making June a good opportunity to promote Busan locally and abroad, including in France.
The committee plans to use June as a chance to foster domestic consensus for the bid as well.
Taking advantage of the General Assembly, they maximized exposure of the Busan World Expo along the routes of BIE member country officials visiting France and carried out promotions to capture the attention of people worldwide at major Paris landmarks.
Advertisements were placed on buildings within 20 meters around the Palais des Congr?s, the venue of the General Assembly, and at bus stops to imprint the Busan World Expo on key BIE officials gathered for the meeting.
Outdoor advertisements were also displayed on the Champs-?lys?es next to the Arc de Triomphe, a world-famous tourist spot in Paris, widely promoting the Busan World Expo to many overseas citizens.
The location of the Champs-?lys?es advertisement was also used during the bid promotion for the Yeosu World Expo, symbolizing Busan’s aspiration to succeed in the bid just like Yeosu.
On the 20th and 21st, during the General Assembly, interviews with influential local French media were conducted to emphasize the justification for hosting the Busan World Expo.
French local famous YouTuber Jojol, who has 2.31 million subscribers, is promoting the Busan World Expo.
A famous French YouTuber with 2.31 million subscribers, Jojol, was recruited to produce and distribute Busan World Expo content utilizing the General Assembly.
At the French Cultural Center in Paris, various promotional content postings and promotions using the center’s own events were carried out to widely inform visitors about the Expo.
Additionally, with corporate cooperation, promotional videos were played and leaflets were provided at Samsung Electronics and Hyundai-Kia Motors stores in Paris to naturally promote Busan to visitors. Hyundai SUVs were wrapped with the Busan World Expo logo and toured the streets of Paris for promotion.
An official from the Bid Committee said, “The promotion during the 170th General Assembly marked the start of full-scale efforts to introduce Busan to the world. By gradually expanding and intensifying the promotional atmosphere, we will be able to achieve success in the 2023 bid.”
The 2030 World Expo host will be decided after the 2nd competitive PT and five competitive PTs held during the 170th BIE General Assembly on the 20th-21st, submission of the bid plan in September 2022, a domestic on-site inspection in early 2023, and a vote by BIE member countries at the end of 2023.
