Gwangju Bukbu Fire Station Conducts 'Fire Truck Passage Training' at Traditional Market

[Asia Economy Honam Reporting Headquarters Reporter Park Jin-hyung] On the afternoon of the 22nd, Gwangju Bukbu Fire Station conducted a 'Fire Truck Passage Training' at Malbau Market to secure the golden time at disaster sites by ensuring fire lanes.

The training involved four vehicles and about 25 participants, including firefighters and volunteer fire brigade members. It was carried out with sirens sounding just like an actual emergency dispatch to raise awareness among merchants and citizens in the traditional market about giving way to emergency vehicles.

The main activities included ▲ removing obstacles to fire truck access within the market to secure fire lanes ▲ urging fire prevention in the traditional market ▲ and conducting a fire truck passage campaign.

Joo Sun-mi, head of the 119 Disaster Response Division, said, “Traditional markets have closely packed stores, so in the event of a fire, rapid spread can lead to large-scale fires. Since quick arrival and initial response are crucial, we are continuously conducting training and campaigns. We ask for the active participation and interest of market officials and citizens in giving way to fire trucks.”
