Gwangju Labor Office Conducts On-site Preventive Inspection for 'Basic Labor Order Compliance'

[Asia Economy Honam Reporting Headquarters Reporter Yoon Jamin] The Gwangju Regional Employment and Labor Office announced on the 22nd that it conducted a joint campaign on labor law compliance at three locations in the Cheomdan District of Gwangsan-gu, Gwangju, together with the Korea Foodservice Industry Association Gwangju Branch (President Kim Sangjae).

This campaign was promoted to mark the 2nd On-site Preventive Inspection Day for compliance with the four basic labor orders in small-scale micro-enterprises.

The basic labor orders include ▲ preparation and delivery of labor contracts ▲ delivery of wage statements ▲ compliance with minimum wage ▲ prevention of wage arrears.

The On-site Preventive Inspection Day is a concentrated promotion, guidance, and inspection conducted in the fourth week of the last month of each quarter for small-scale micro-enterprises, where labor management is particularly vulnerable, to protect the most basic labor rights of working workers. It has been implemented since this year.

Since most foodservice businesses operate on a small scale and are relatively vulnerable to labor laws, the Korea Foodservice Industry Association Gwangju Branch participated in this campaign to actively encourage compliance with labor orders.

The Gwangju Labor Office plans to conduct inspections targeting major micro-enterprises in the manufacturing, wholesale, and retail sectors in the jurisdiction along with street campaigns, and provide labor guidance to correct any legal violations.

Hwang Jongcheol, head of the Gwangju Regional Employment and Labor Office, said, “The four basic labor orders must be guaranteed for the fundamental rights and interests of workers,” and added, “We will continuously cooperate to share major violation cases and incorrect practices with business owner organizations in vulnerable industries such as the foodservice sector and work towards improvement.”
