[Asia Economy Reporter Kwak Minjae] The Seoul Regional Headquarters of the Korea Federation of Small and Medium Business (KOSME) jointly held the "2022 Seoul Small and Medium Businesspersons Convention" under the theme "60 Years of Progress, 100 Years of Hope" on the 22nd at the Small and Medium Business DMC Tower in Sangam-dong, Mapo-gu, Seoul, together with the Seoul Regional Small and Medium Venture Business Administration.
Celebrating its 33rd year, the "Korea Small and Medium Businesspersons Convention" is the largest event in the SME sector that honors and encourages small and medium businesspersons who have contributed to national economic development and job creation. This event was held to boost the morale of Seoul-area small and medium businesspersons following the "2022 Korea Small and Medium Businesspersons Convention" held last month on the 25th at the lawn square of the Yongsan Presidential Office.
About 200 small and medium businesspersons and guests from the Seoul area attended the event. Attendees included ▲ Kim Ki-hong, Director of Seoul Technopark ▲ Oh Chang-won, President of Seoul Entrepreneurs Association ▲ Jung Cheol-young, President of the Seoul Federation of Small and Medium Business Convergence ▲ Lee Woong-kyung, President of the Seoul Branch of the Korea Women Entrepreneurs Association, among others.
At the event, Ahn Jae-cheon, CEO of TrueN, who received the Industrial Medal, was recognized for strengthening domestic and international competitiveness in the video detection system market by developing home cameras, cloud software solution services, and smart doorbell products based on artificial intelligence (AI) and Internet of Things (IoT) solutions. A total of four people, including Kim Yong-sik, CEO of Kudo Communication, Lee Sang-hoon, CEO of Platier, and Choi Yoon-seok, Technical Director of the Korean Society for Heat Treatment Engineering, received the Industrial Medal.
In addition, 7 recipients of the Presidential Award, 9 of the Prime Minister's Award, 2 of the Minister of Strategy and Finance Award, 1 of the Minister of Employment and Labor Award, 64 of the Minister of SMEs and Startups Award, and 53 of the KOSME Chairman's Award were commended for their contributions to the national and regional economy.
Park Jong-seok, Chairman of the Seoul Small and Medium Business Association of KOSME, said, "I sincerely congratulate all the awardees who have diligently led their companies despite difficult circumstances," adding, "Although it is challenging to run a business due to minimum wage increases, the 52-hour workweek system, and the Serious Accident Punishment Act, I hope that small and medium enterprises will continuously innovate and transform into global specialized companies leading the market economy."
Kim Young-shin, Director of the Seoul Regional Small and Medium Venture Business Administration, stated, "The Seoul Regional Small and Medium Venture Business Administration will provide various policies that enable small and medium and venture businesses to establish themselves as a core axis of private-sector-led growth in line with the new government's economic policy direction," and added, "I hope that businesspersons responsible for Korea's economy and jobs will take pride and work hard for the rapid economic recovery of our economy."
