[Exclusive] 50-Year-Old Arrested for Attempted Matricide After Attacking 80-Year-Old Mother with a Weapon

[Asia Economy Reporter Gong Byung-sun] A man in his 50s who attempted to kill his elderly mother after an argument has been arrested by the police.

On the 22nd, the Nowon Police Station in Seoul apprehended a man in his 50s, identified as Mr. A, on suspicion of attempted parricide the previous day.

On the afternoon of the previous day, Mr. A reportedly stabbed his mother, Ms. B, in her 80s, multiple times with a weapon during an argument at their home located in Hagye-dong, Nowon-gu, Seoul. Later that day, at around 7:10 PM, Mr. A himself called 119, and the police arrested him 10 minutes later. Ms. B, who sustained serious injuries, is currently unconscious.

The police plan to request an arrest warrant for Mr. A in the near future.
