Jungnang-gu Builds Platform (Application) for Local Small Business Owners

[Asia Economy Reporter Park Jong-il] Jungnang-gu (Mayor Ryu Kyung-gi) is launching a project to build a platform that delivers customized information needed by local small business owners in collaboration with consortium organizations.

This initiative aims to assist small business owners who face difficulties due to information gaps, such as missing the timing or not knowing how to access various support programs.

Last month, the district was finally selected for a resident participation-based local problem-solving project competition hosted by the Korea Local Information Research & Development Institute under the Ministry of the Interior and Safety, securing 100 million KRW in national funding for a platform-building project for local small business owners. The project involves Seoul Youth University Co., Ltd., Saenggak Silheom Social Cooperative, and Lime Friends Co., Ltd.

The project aims to develop an application and website that provide support information for local small business owners. The district plans to form a ‘Self-Solution Team’ composed of local residents and youth to participate in the project process.

The ‘Self-Solution Team’ will visit the area to survey and interview small business owners and residents to gather opinions necessary for building the platform, ensuring it contains information that small business owners genuinely want. After the app is developed, a campaign to promote platform usage will also be conducted.

In addition to support information for small business owners, the district expects to help bridge the information gap and support sustainable growth of local small businesses by easily delivering the latest trends and issues such as social economy, social ventures, and ESG.

Jungnang-gu Mayor Ryu Kyung-gi said, “We hope the consulting platform will help small business owners who found it difficult to know when and how to apply for support programs,” adding, “We will continue to do our best to prepare policies that provide practical help to local small business owners.”
