This event, organized by the Yongam Seowon Preservation Society, was prepared to honor the virtue and academic achievements of Nammyung Jo Sik, a leading Confucian scholar of the Yeongnam region during the mid-Joseon period.
The sayings and works displayed at this exhibition were excerpted from sources such as Eulmyo Jikso (Danseongso), the teacher’s biography, Minambu, and Shinmyeong Samyeong, and promotional panels were installed in the Yongam Seowon plaza. There are more than 20 promotional panels in four categories: Ethics, Politics, Scholarship, and Classical Poetry.
Hapcheon-gun is promoting projects to commemorate Nammyung, including the maintenance of Yongam Seowon, restoration of his birthplace, and creation of the Seonbi-gil trail, and plans to discover projects that can enhance the status of Nammyung and pass on his ideology.
