Gwangju National Science Museum Hosts 'Special Invitation Event on 2nd Quarter Closure Days'

[Asia Economy Honam Reporting Headquarters Reporter Park Jin-hyung] The National Gwangju Science Museum announced on the 21st that it held the '2022 2nd Quarter Special Invitation Event on Closed Days' by inviting about 90 disabled students and teachers from Hampyeong Film School located in Hampyeong-gun, Jeollanam-do.

This invitation event accepted applications from special schools and social welfare facilities located in the Gwangju, Jeollanam-do, and Jeonbuk regions, and Hampyeong Film School in Jeollanam-do was finally selected.

The students who visited the Gwangju Science Museum toured the permanent exhibition hall, special video theater, and robot dance performance guided by the museum staff, and afterwards enjoyed a meaningful time experiencing science culture by having lunch and snacks provided by the museum.

Jeon Tae-ho, Acting Director of the Gwangju Science Museum, said, "As a national science museum serving as a hub in the Honam region, the National Gwangju Science Museum is discovering and promoting various projects to bridge the science culture gap together with the support association," and added, "We hope for the citizens' great interest and participation in the National Gwangju Science Museum Support Association so that the support projects can continue without interruption."

This event has been held quarterly since 2016 with the support of the Gwangju Science Museum Support Association, and on Mondays, the museum's closed days, all general staff members directly participate to provide exhibition guidance services.

This year, the Gwangju Science Museum plans to continue expanding science culture activities targeting underprivileged groups in science culture, such as visiting science museum programs and science dream tree invitation events, together with the National Gwangju Science Museum Support Association.
