[Asia Economy Reporter Donghoon Jeong] Doosan Robotics announced on the 21st that it will participate in 'Automatica 2022,' held in Munich, Germany, from the 21st to the 24th.
Automatica 2022 is Europe's largest exhibition for robotics and automation technology solutions, where companies related to robotics, machine vision, and digital solutions gather to discuss business and build networks.
At this exhibition, Doosan Robotics set the main theme as "Your Day with ROKEY," using ROKEY, the term referring to its entire line of collaborative robots. It will focus on introducing three solutions applicable to real life: service, manufacturing, and software.
The service solutions include the unmanned modular robot cafe 'DR.Presso,' the camera robot 'NINA,' and for the first time, noodle robots and beer robots. The noodle robot is currently used in large domestic restaurants and can prepare over 20 types of noodle dishes such as udon, pasta, and janchi-guksu, producing up to 60 bowls per hour. The beer robot is based on Reverse Tap technology (which fills beer from the bottom when a cup is inserted) and will also be used to form networks with local partners.
Additionally, the drum robot performance, which received high attention at CES 2022 held last January, will be showcased during the exhibition.
The manufacturing solutions include palletizing (stacking products on pallets), welding, machine tending (loading raw materials and unloading finished products), parts assembly, and inspection. These were developed reflecting the demands of local European customers in terms of language, detailed functions, and implementation methods.
The software solution includes Dart Suite, a software platform that allows easy design and sharing of functions necessary for operating collaborative robots. Dart Suite consists of Dart-IDE, a development program that enables anyone to easily design collaborative robot software, and Dart-store, which handles software upload and download. At the exhibition, voice recognition and mobile teaching applications designed with this platform will also be demonstrated. Dart Suite is scheduled for full release in the second half of this year.
In addition, electric vehicle charging systems, autonomous logistics robots, and educational robot kits will also be exhibited.
A Doosan Robotics official stated, "Since about 70% of Doosan Robotics' overseas sales are targeted at the U.S. and European markets, we plan to actively introduce various solutions owned by Doosan Robotics at this exhibition. We will establish a European subsidiary in the second half of this year and strengthen our sales capabilities to actively expand our market channels overseas."
Last year, Doosan Robotics became the first in Korea to surpass 1,000 units in annual collaborative robot sales. Leveraging product excellence such as the largest lineup including the M series, A series, and H series; acquisition of industry-leading international safety certifications; force and compliance control technology based on a 6-axis torque sensor; and gravity compensation technology that allows lifting heavy weights relative to size, the company is expanding its business areas beyond manufacturing into the service sector.
