Honam University Helps Local Small Business Owners Enter Franchising

[Asia Economy Honam Reporting Headquarters Reporter Yoon Jamin] Honam University is accelerating efforts to help local small business owners enter the franchise industry.

The Honam University Industry-Academic Cooperation Foundation recently announced on the 20th that it signed a business agreement with the Gwangju Metropolitan City Economic Employment Promotion Agency to support the “Gwangju Excellent Small Business Franchise Education Support.”

They plan to mutually cooperate to jointly operate educational programs and share personnel, facilities, and information.

Accordingly, the Graduate School of Entrepreneurship at Honam University, Gwangju City, and the Gwangju Economic Employment Promotion Agency are recruiting about 20 students (limited to one person per company) to participate in the “2022 Gwangju Excellent Small Business Franchise Beginner Education Course.”

This education targets franchise headquarters executives and employees interested in franchise business, prospective franchisees, small business owners, and prospective entrepreneurs, aiming to foster Gwangju-style franchises and develop experts in Gwangju-style franchising.

Those wishing to participate in the “2022 Gwangju Excellent Small Business Franchise Beginner Education Course” can submit their application forms via email by the 6th of next month.

The education will be held every Wednesday for 4 hours from July 13 to August 31 at the Adult Hall (Building 7) of Honam University.

Professor Park Seon-kyung of the Graduate School of Entrepreneurship at Honam University introduced the program, saying, “We present the securing of verified expert instructors based on curriculum composition that aligns with trends and field guidance experience in each sector as the program’s differentiating factor. It is a substantial program that includes lecture-style education and field visits for case analysis through visits to excellent local stores.”

She added, “Through an educational program composed of trending issue areas such as fair trade, big data, and smartization, as well as basic franchise fields including franchise industry and systems, franchise business law, commercial district analysis, and distribution logistics, and common franchise fields such as entrepreneurship and emotional marketing, we are confident this will be a great opportunity to establish a ‘Gwangju-style franchise.’”

Meanwhile, the Graduate School of Entrepreneurship at Honam University was established in 2020 with the goal of nurturing practical entrepreneurs and startup consultants with creative challenging spirits through entrepreneurship-based theory and practical education related to startups.

Currently, about 40 students are enrolled in the master’s and doctoral programs, and a group of five experts including faculty and students are participating in this educational program.
