Over 200 Family Members Participate, Enjoying Great Fun
[Asia Economy Yeongnam Reporting Headquarters Reporter Kim Gwiyeol] The Gyeongbuk Yeongju City Comprehensive Welfare Center for the Disabled held the "14th Exciting Sports Day with Families of Children with Disabilities" at the Yeongju City Sports Center on the 18th.
The event aimed to help children with disabilities build confidence and develop a sense of responsibility and cooperation through group activities, while promoting physical development and psychological stability through various active games tailored to the characteristics of disabilities.
About 200 participants, including children with disabilities using the welfare center, their families, and volunteers, attended the event, which featured games such as mat flipping, bowling golf, and discus throwing.
Additionally, the event was filled with games that children and parents could enjoy together, such as gift snatching, weight holding endurance, and mission relay races, providing a time for children with disabilities and their families to enjoy together, breaking free from the restrictions on outdoor activities caused by COVID-19.
Director Ahn Yongseok said, "It was a day to revitalize bodies that had been dormant for a long time due to COVID-19," and added, "We will continue to provide programs that help families of children with disabilities."
The Yeongju City Comprehensive Welfare Center for the Disabled is operated under commission by the Jogye Order of Korean Buddhism Social Welfare Foundation and is the only comprehensive welfare center for the disabled in the region, offering various services for local disabled individuals facing physical, mental disabilities, and economic difficulties.
