[Asia Economy Reporter Naju-seok] Ha Tae-kyung, a member of the People Power Party, rebutted on the 19th that Woo Sang-ho, the Emergency Response Committee Chairman of the Democratic Party of Korea, is spreading false propaganda. He stated that during the 2020 West Sea public official killing incident, members of the National Defense Committee and the Intelligence Committee only received government reports and did not have access to the intelligence details.
On this day, Rep. Ha said, "I am rebutting because Chairman Woo is spreading absurd false propaganda," adding, "Chairman Woo claims that immediately after the 2020 West Sea public official shooting incident, members of the National Defense Committee and the Intelligence Committee reviewed the intelligence details and acknowledged that it was a defection to the North. However, this is a blatant lie."
Previously, Chairman Woo mentioned, "At that time, the intelligence details were reviewed together by ruling and opposition party members in the National Defense Committee and the Intelligence Committee," and "Even ruling party members have seen it and said, 'It’s a defection to the North.'"
Regarding this, Rep. Ha said, "I was concurrently a member of both the National Defense Committee and the Intelligence Committee at that time, so I know exactly," and added, "First of all, ruling and opposition party members did not have access to the intelligence details." However, he said, "We only listened to reports where the Minister of National Defense and the Director of the National Intelligence Service explained the intelligence details, but we did not directly verify them."
Rep. Ha stated, "I have persistently raised objections for 1 year and 9 months against the government’s announcement that the killed public official attempted to defect to the North," and added, "To verify with my own eyes whether it was possible to attempt defection by jumping into the September night sea without any equipment, I conducted a 1-night, 2-day field investigation on a fisheries guidance vessel in the West Sea."
