[Asia Economy Reporter Kang Nahum] Kakao will introduce a ‘biweekly Nolgeum (Playing Friday)’ system starting next month.
On the 17th, Kakao announced internally, "To create a culture of working together and resting together and to increase organizational productivity, we will newly implement the ‘biweekly Nolgeum’ system from July 8."
The biweekly Nolgeum designates every other Friday as a day off, allowing employees to work only four days a week. The sabbatical and refresh leave system, which provides 30 days of leave to crews (employees) who have worked for three full years, will remain unchanged.
During the pilot period of the work system, Kakao plans to actively listen to crews’ opinions through data analysis on work patterns and surveys targeting crews, and to develop the work system further. The goal is to officially implement it in January next year after this process.
The pilot work system will be implemented from August 4. Crews can work freely at a location of their choice, but to ensure efficient collaboration with colleagues, the period from 2 PM to 5 PM will be operated as an all-check-in time.
Additionally, to supplement parts that are difficult to resolve online, offline meetings once a week will be encouraged. The use of voice channels will also be promoted so that crews can communicate with each other in various ways.
Furthermore, Kakao plans to enhance crews’ work efficiency by organizing and opening a new workspace, ‘Kakao Pangyo Ajit,’ optimized for the work system.
