[Asia Economy Reporter Jang Hyowon] Daewoo Shipbuilding & Marine Engineering Construction, a subsidiary of Korea Technology, a KOSDAQ-listed company, announced on the 17th that it has won a contract worth 43.7 billion KRW for the Myeongseongsan Cable Car construction project at Sanjeong Lake in Pocheon-si, Gyeonggi-do.
The cable car construction project is located in Sanjeong-ri 78, Yeongbuk-myeon, Pocheon-si, Gyeonggi-do, and involves building a lower station of 2,920㎡ (2 floors above ground) and an upper station of 1,609㎡ (2 floors above ground). The construction period is 30 months from the start date. The project was commissioned by Shinsol Co., Ltd. (CEO Jeong Jaekyung).
The route connecting the upper and lower stations is a total of 1,928 meters, and based on a cable car speed of 3.5 m/s, a round trip takes 20 minutes. The elevation difference is 550 meters.
Based on winning this cable car construction project, the company plans to actively contribute to revitalizing tourism in local governments and to vigorously promote various tourism facility construction projects.
A company official stated, “Although Sanjeong Lake currently has high recognition, the infrastructure for tourism activities is insufficient, leading to a steady decline and stagnation in the number of tourists. Through this cable car construction project, we will improve convenience for visitors to Myeongseongsan and actively contribute to revitalizing the local economy.”
He also said, “Taking this project as an opportunity, we plan to secure additional cable car construction projects in the near future while strengthening our position in the tourism infrastructure market. Through cooperation with local governments, we will establish new tourism landmarks nationwide and enhance our business competitiveness.”
Meanwhile, Korea Technology, which merged with Korea Investment Bank on the 15th, is also pursuing a merger with Daewoo Shipbuilding & Marine Engineering Construction.
